Formerly known as Mendelow Jacobs, Alan Jacobs & Associates is headed up by Alan Jacobs, whose vast experience of more than 30 years in all aspects of South African law allowed him to establish a network of advocate colleagues, both senior and junior, with whom he works closely.
Alan was admitted as an attorney in 1987 and holds a B-Proc from the University of Pretoria, an LLB from the University of Cape Town, and an LLM from the University of Bristol. He is recognised as a formidable litigator by his peers.
Our Alan is an accredited Mediator with Conflict Dynamics and is very successful in mediating settlements of various disputes, including labour, employment, landlord and tenant, domestic, divorce, sexual harassment, abuse, and commercial. He has vast experience as a mediator in these areas and is highly regarded.
In a CCMA arbitration case (Professor Michael Joseph v The University of the North), the arbitrator recorded in his award that Alan “simply demolished his opponent’s witnesses”.
He’s also had the honour of being invited to preside as an acting Judge in the Labour Court and acts as a trustee regarding international and local trusts based on his vast experience in providing trust advice.

Apart from his wife and three children, Alan's passions include travelling to exotic and dangerous destinations and collecting indigenous artefacts. He is also a committed Iyengar Yoga Practitioner.
